The death toll in a fire at a resort in Turkey has risen to six people

The number of people killed in a fire in a hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya in the Turkish province of Bolu has risen to six people, the number of injured amounted to 31 people. This was reported by the TV channel TRT Haber on January 21.

As noted by the Governor of Bolu Abdulaziz Aydin, currently the fire in the hotel has largely been brought under control. The provincial prosecutor's office is determining the causes of the incident.

"Six of our citizens have lost their lives. The condition of 26 of the 31 injured people is moderate, two of them are in serious condition. Two people died trying to save themselves by jumping into the water," commented the governor.

According to CNN Türk, the fire broke out in the hotel at an altitude of 2,200 meters. Starting in the restaurant part of the 12-story wooden building at around 03:30 am local time, the fire spread quickly.

There were a total of 237 guests in the hotel. After reporting the incident to the 112 Emergency Center, staff quickly began evacuating guests.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Embassy told RIA Novosti that it had received no information about Russians injured or killed in the fire.

Earlier, on January 2, a hotel in Turkey almost completely burned down due to short-circuited wiring. It was noted that emergency services managed to extinguish the fire, preventing the fire from spreading to the adjacent forest area. Most of the hotel rooms were completely destroyed.
