Ussuriysk City Prosecutor's Office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against two local residents guilty under Part 3 of Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal storage and sale of parts of especially valuable wild animals belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation). This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Primorsky Krai in Telegram-channel on January 21.

The court found the men guilty of committing the crime. One of them was sentenced to six years of imprisonment, the other - five years of suspended imprisonment.

Due to the leniency of the punishment, the prosecutor's office brought an appeal against the verdict, the results of which were put under control.

During the court session it was established that in July 2023, a resident of the village of Vozdvizhenka found the skin of an Amur tiger, and then conspired with an acquaintance for the purpose of further sale.

In October 2023, the initiator of the crime was detained and imprisoned on suspicion of another offense. In December, the accomplice met with the intended buyer, who handed over 825,000 rubles to the latter.

The client acted within the framework of the federal law "On Operative Investigative Activity". The money was a moulage, and the criminal was detained at the scene of the crime. The tiger skin was withdrawn from illegal circulation.

Earlier it was reported that in the territory of Primorsky Krai in 2024 about 600 conflict situations with predatory animals were recorded. Hunting supervision had to remove four Amur tigers and three bears from the wild.

On December 26, the Amur Tiger Center reported that rare Far Eastern leopards, according to preliminary data, attacked dogs in three villages in Primorye. The day before, it became known about a traffic accident involving a tiger in the Khasansky district: it was hit by a Toyota SUV, but the predator survived the collision and fled into the forest. Later it was found using a quadrocopter. Apparently, the animal was not significantly injured.
