The sappers of the Center troops group continue to inspect the liberated territories from explosive deposits of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by Izvestiya correspondent Aleksandr Safiulin on January 21.

As the journalist noted, it is especially difficult to inspect residential houses where Ukrainian servicemen used to stay.

Anything can lie in the scattered belongings, but as a rule, the houses are left with stretchers in the doorways or mined valuables. Barely visible fishing line at the height of foot traffic is the most common means of mines.

"Paeffems, unexploded artillery shells, cluster munitions and ammunition left by the enemy also take place... Magnetic mines and bells give us most of the trouble," said Leonid Otdelnov, platoon commander of the Center group of troops.

The AFU also like to set grenades right at head level, when all the fighter's attention is focused on the floor. Also recently Ukrainian servicemen have begun to mine children's toys and furniture.

"I was told about "meowing" nightstands. We go in - we hear meowing, let's say in the closet, and you can understand: when you open the closet - there will be an explosion", - commented Otdelnov about cases when together with explosives Ukrainian servicemen purposefully locked animals.

Earlier, December 20, 2024, sappers told about demining the territory of the liberated Ukrainsk in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). It is specified that sappers had to neutralize various types of mines of both Soviet design and foreign production, as well as unexploded elements of cluster munitions.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
