SSJ-100 manufacturer has developed measures to prevent catastrophes
The Yakovlev Company has developed instructions for aircraft technicians to control the installation of angle of attack (AoA) sensors on Superjet-100 (SSJ-100) aircraft and recommendations for pilots to recognize erroneous readings to prevent accidents. Izvestia has familiarized itself with the documents.
It was the improper installation of ROVs and the inability of pilots to determine their incorrect operation in time, according to preliminary IAC data, led to the crash of the SSJ-100 near Kolomna on July 12, 2024.
The Yakovlev bulletin will explain to technicians how to correctly fix ROV overlays in the F1 or F2 compartments on the port and starboard sides. They must be indelibly marked to indicate the correct placement of the device.
The developer has also prepared an information letter for airlines explaining the aircraft behavior in case of two or more incorrectly installed sensors. Rosaviatsia, by its directive, demanded from the aircraft operators to take these measures to prevent similar SSJ-100 crashes.
