An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) intercepted and eliminated by air defense (air defense) and electronic warfare (REB) means in the Voronezh region caused a fire, Governor Alexander Gusev said on January 20.

"On-duty air defense forces and REB means in the Liskinsky district detected, destroyed and suppressed several UAVs. As a result of the fall of one of the drones on the territory of the oil depot there was a new fire," - said the head of the region in Telegram-channel.

As Governor Gusev noted, there are no casualties.

"Firefighters and operational services will continue extinguishing as soon as it is safe to do so. There is no threat to the population," - added the head of the Voronezh region.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian air defense forces destroyed 31 Ukrainian drones overnight over Russian regions, of which three were shot down over the Kursk region.

Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the backdrop of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
