The Russian Federation wants to give large families free travel on toll roads. This bill will be submitted to the State Duma by the faction "Fair Russia - For Truth" on January 21, headed by Sergei Mironov. The document was familiarized with "Izvestia".

"At present, large families are not exempt from tolls on toll roads and toll sections of highways, despite the right of the owner of a toll road to establish additional categories of users of toll roads exempt from toll collection," the explanatory note to the bill reads.

It notes that in this regard it is proposed to fix in the legislation the norm that members of large families are exempted from such a fee. Also, the authors of the initiative believe that the adoption of the bill will significantly reduce the costs of large families associated with travel on toll roads and toll road sections, as well as strengthen their right to freedom of movement.

"The savings can be of various kinds. It could be a small amount of money that people don't have to spend when moving around their region. It can be a much larger amount. Take, for example, the cost of traveling from central Russia to the Black Sea. Today, the cost of tickets for railroad transportation, and certainly not to mention airplane travel for large families is large and unaffordable. For this reason, many people travel by their own transportation, and there they are subjected to considerable tolls for travel on toll roads. Taking into account the cost of gasoline and food for the family on the road, the amount is considerable, and therefore the state should free people from unnecessary expenses," - explained Sergei Mironov.

Earlier, the Russian Government supported the project on the prohibition to dismiss a parent who is the sole breadwinner in a large family with children under 14 years old. This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers on January 13. It is specified that we are talking about families with at least three minor children and only one of the parents is working. Currently, there is already a ban on the dismissal of such breadwinners, but it applies only until the youngest child is three years old.
