US President-elect Donald Trump plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico into the American Gulf of Mexico and the Denali Mountains in Alaska into McKinley in his first hours in office. The New York Post (NYP) reported on January 20.

"The Gulf of Mexico will be renamed the Gulf of America, and Denali, the tallest mountain in North America, will once again be called Mount McKinley - which is what it was called in the eyes of the U.S. government until President Barack Obama changed the name in 2015," the paper said in its coverage.

Meanwhile, another NYP piece, citing new White House officials, reports that Trump will revoke birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants on his first day in office. It is specified that the government will stop recognizing immediate citizenship for children of illegal migrants who were born in the United States on a prospective basis.

Reuters, in turn, citing Trump officials, reported that Trump will reinstate the death penalty at the federal level, which was abolished by the administration of outgoing US leader Joe Biden.

Earlier in the day, Fox News reported that Trump is set to sign more than 200 executive orders on the first day of his administration. The decrees will deal with energy, border and immigration policy. The US president-elect also intends to declare drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

Earlier, January 17, Politico reported that the team of the U.S. President-elect intends to declare a state of emergency to combat illegal migration. It is noted that officials are also developing an executive order to abolish the right to American citizenship by birth. The Trump administration plans to launch raids against migrants the day after the inauguration, The Wall Street Journal added.

Prior to that, on January 7, US President-elect Donald Trump said that he intends to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America in the near future. He added that his plans include imposing "very significant" duties on imports of goods from Canada and Mexico.

In December 2024, it was reported that Trump intends to seek the death penalty for rapists and murderers after his inauguration. The American president-elect added that the United States will once again become "a nation of law and order."

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5, 2024. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Trump's inauguration will be held on January 20, the beginning is scheduled for 20:00 Moscow time.
