The Ministry of Internal Affairs has published crime statistics for 2024

The number of crimes registered in 2024 in Russia has decreased by 1.8% compared to last year. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk in Telegram-channel on January 20.

According to her, the number of murders and attempted murders decreased by 9.8%, the number of unlawful acts against the person decreased by 7.7% and facts of intentional infliction of serious harm to health decreased by 8.1%.

"40% of crimes were committed with the use of information and telecommunication technologies. Such acts were registered by 13.1% more than in 2023, including grave and especially grave compositions - by 7.8%," - stated in the message of the representative of the interior Ministry.

At the same time, Volk emphasized that the above results of operational and service activities "have been achieved despite the fact that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia is working in conditions of significant shortage of personnel".

Also, according to statistics, in January-December last year there was a decrease in the number of registered robberies, robberies and thefts.

At the same time, 51.4% more crimes related to drug trafficking were detected. The police seized more than 28 tons of drugs from criminals in the criminal cases investigated.

Earlier, on January 15, 2025, it was reported that crimes committed using information and communication technologies accounted for 40% of all detected crimes last year. Almost half of such crimes (48.1%) belong to the categories of grave and especially grave crimes. A total of 702,900 crimes committed using IT technologies were registered in January-November 2024.
