The Democratic Party of the United States has recognized its defeat and will not try to disrupt the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump. The increased security measures during the ceremony are related to the attempts on the life of the American leader, which were made earlier. Such an opinion was shared with "Izvestia" on January 20 by Pavel Feldman, candidate of political sciences, professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations.

Earlier Stars and Stripes newspaper reported that more than 7 thousand military personnel of the US National Guard had been pulled to Washington for Trump's inauguration to ensure security. They will primarily perform a supporting role, including street policing, traffic control and other functions, the journalists noted.

"Unprecedented security measures are dictated by the need to protect the head of state and guests of the ceremony from mentally unhealthy people, brought into an aggressive state by anti-Trump propaganda," Feldman explained.

He added that the Democrats themselves will not create unnecessary problems. According to the interlocutor of the publication, the current head of state Joe Biden and his vice-president Kamala Harris have no political future. At best, the political scientist believes, they will remember her when she publishes her memoirs in a few years. Biden, for his part, will spend the rest of his days as a deep retiree.

"The Democratic Party will try to turn the page as soon as possible on the shameful reign of the weakest U.S. president in history. Political battles will heat up with renewed vigor in two years, when elections to the House of Representatives will be held. That's when the Democrats will try to take revenge from Trump," the expert summarized.

Political scientist Ruslan Andreyev also expressed the opinion that Trump will have two years of absolute power, but the Democrats will not give up without a fight in the congressional elections.

At the same time, the day before, Biden said during a speech in South Carolina that he is not tired and "will not go anywhere". The politician also noted that he is passionate about work, as in his 29 years.

Before that, on January 15, Biden made a farewell 17-minute speech, addressing the nation. During the speech, he pointed out the dangers of strengthening the oligarchy, proposed to change the U.S. Constitution and said that he had managed to preserve the freedom of Ukraine. At the same time, the speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, called Biden's legacy the migration crisis, persecution of opponents and strengthening of Washington's enemies.
