Russia may have an extraordinary indexation of pensions in spring-summer 2025, Valery Tumin, a member of the expert council on the development of the digital economy at the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, said on January 20.

"In my opinion, it should be another 2-3%," he told Gazeta.Ru.

Tumin expressed the opinion that the increase is likely to affect non-working pensioners as the most unprotected category of the population. At the same time, he called obvious and support for working pensioners, whose payments this year will be indexed for the first time since 2016.

The expert added that he considers the need for extraordinary indexation of pensions urgent due to rising prices, and pointed to the social orientation of budget execution.

Earlier, on January 18, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy Svetlana Bessarab said that the government may decide on the additional indexation of insurance pensions by 2.22% by February 1. MP Ekaterina Stenyakina also drew attention to the fact that the federal budget of the country was prepared for additional indexation of pensions.
