In Moscow, spouses were sentenced to 3.5 and 4.5 years in prison for driving a teenager to suicide

Troitsky District Court of Moscow sentenced spouses Andrei and Irina Voropaev to 3.5 and 4.5 years in a penal colony in the case of driving a teenager to suicide. This was reported on January 20 in the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

"Voropaeva Irina Anatolievna was found guilty <...>, the punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of four years and six months was appointed. <...> Voropaev Andrey Sergeyevich was found guilty <...>, the punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three years six months was appointed," - stated in the Telegram-channel.

It is specified that the woman will serve her sentence in a penal colony of general regime, and the man - in a penal colony of strict regime.

The spouses were found guilty under paragraphs "a", "g" of part 2 of article 110 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Driving a minor to suicide by a group of persons by prior conspiracy"). The court also partially satisfied the civil claim of the teenager's relative.

In the previous consideration of the case, Voropayeva received nine years of colony, and her husband - 8.5 years, but the verdict was canceled due to violations of the criminal procedure law.

The tragedy occurred in October 2019. The woman, who came to the teenager as a stepmother, developed a program for weight loss of the minor. As a result, the child lost 21 kg, and also complained to classmates that his parents tortured him with training and threatened to send him to a boarding school.

Earlier, on January 15, the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow reported that Basmanny district court arrested in absentia blogger Sergei Kosenko, who threw a two-month-old baby into a snowdrift and published video footage of the incident. He will be held in custody for two months from the moment of his extradition to Russia or his detention in the country. Kosenko was declared wanted on October 13, 2024.

The video clip that caused outrage among social media users was published by the blogger on January 7 last year. The footage shows a man throwing an infant high, after which he falls into the snow and completely falls inside. The video is accompanied by the famous New Year's song by Andy Williams and the caption "Leo's first flight".

In turn, Kosenko did not see anything terrible in the incident and soon continued, posting two more videos where he himself and the child's mother jump into the snow. Later, the blogger said that the video used a doll and ordinary editing techniques. This information was confirmed by his lawyer Sergei Zhorin.
