In Iran, a rapper has been sentenced to death for blasphemy
A court in Iran sentenced rapper Tataloo (Amir Hossein Magsudlu) to death for blasphemy, The Guardian newspaper reported on January 19, citing the Iranian edition of Etemad.
"The case was resumed and this time the defendant was sentenced to death for insulting the prophet," the piece said.
Thus, Iran's supreme court satisfied the prosecutor's demand to increase the punishment for the musician, who had already been sentenced to five years in prison.
The new sentence is not final and can be appealed, specified "Gazeta.Ru".
Earlier, on December 9, 2024, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives Marjorie Taylor Green called for a death sentence for American rappers Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and P.Diddy (P.Diddy, real name - Sean Combs), who were accused of raping minors. In her opinion, violent acts against children should carry "the most serious consequences".
