Orban's office expressed hope for his imminent meeting with Trump
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expects to meet with US President-elect Donald Trump in the near future. This was announced on January 20 by the head of the Hungarian prime minister's office, Gergay Guillasz.
"In the foreseeable future, a meeting between Orban and Trump will definitely take place," follows from his statement published on the Hungarian government's Facebook page (owned by Meta, an organization recognized as extremist in Russia and banned).
Guillas also noted that the Hungarian prime minister is a longtime ally of the US leader-elect.
A spokesman for Hungary's head of government, Bertalan Havasi, reported on January 15 that Orban would not attend Trump' s inauguration ceremony.
Earlier in the day, CNN quoted sources as saying that Trump had instructed to organize a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin within a few days after the inauguration. It was specified that one of the purposes of the conversation will be to discuss a personal meeting in the coming months.
