Insurers have assessed the draft law on increasing payments for CMTPL insurance
It will be possible to consider increasing CMTPL insurance payout limits when inflation stabilizes, but now it is inexpedient. This is stated in the statement of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RAMI), which was received by Izvestia on January 20.
The RAMI assessed the bill prepared for submission to the State Duma by the LDPR deputies, which proposes to increase the limits of CMTPL insurance payments to 650 thousand rubles from 500 thousand rubles in terms of compensation for damage to life or health of each victim and to 520 thousand rubles from 400 thousand rubles in terms of compensation for damage to property of each victim.
"Since inflation, unfortunately, has not yet stopped, and it affects the cost of spare parts, it is now inexpedient to change the existing system of CMTPL insurance, for which so far the price of the policy remains stable," - said the RAMI.
Insurers emphasized that the increase in limits will inevitably lead to an increase in the cost of CMTPL insurance policies. According to RAMI, it would be more correct to consider the limits in conjunction with the issue of free tariffs - the higher the limit, the higher the tariff, or free tariff formation. The union noted that even taking into account the growth in the cost of vehicles and spare parts in recent years in 2024 compared to 2023, the growth of the average premium in 2024 compared to 2023 was 3%, and the growth of the average payment - 20%
January 16, it was reported that from January 27, the boundaries of the tariff corridor for CMTPL insurance will be expanded for some types of vehicles. In addition, the Bank of Russia announced that in a number of regions at the end of January will be updated the values of the territorial coefficient (CT), which affects the cost of the policy.
