Transnistria's head says the region is ready for gas supplies through Moldovagaz
Transnistria is ready to supply gas through the Moldovan company Moldovagaz at Chisinau's demand, the president of the unrecognized republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said at a meeting of the operational headquarters on 20 January.
"We agreed with the proposals of Moldovan leaders, starting with the president, that gas should be supplied to Transnistria by the Moldovagaz company," he said in a video published on the DMR head's Telegram channel.
According to Krasnoselsky, Tiraspoltransgaz notified Moldovagaz on Saturday, January 18, that it had no objections to supplying gas under the above scheme. He noted that Tiraspoltransgaz guarantees payment.
On the previous day, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that she considered gas supplies through intermediaries from Russia to Transnistria illegal because they violate the anti-Russian sanctions. According to the Moldovan leader, Gazprom could organize supplies through the Moldovagaz company.
It became known on January 15 that Russia would start humanitarian gas supplies to the DMR. Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean expressed dissatisfaction with the aid measures. Krasnoselsky on January 17 asked Sandu not to interfere with the supplies.
Gas supplies from Russia to Moldova and Transnistria stopped on 1 January due to Ukraine 's refusal to prolong the agreement on transit through its territory and debts of the Moldovan side to Gazprom.
