The Russian government has supplemented the list of essential drugs with 18 items
The list of vital and essential drugs (VED) has been supplemented with 18 drugs. This was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a government meeting on January 20.
"The government continues to implement measures, profile state programs, which are aimed at increasing the availability of drugs and medicines for our citizens, primarily vital drugs, the list of which is regularly updated. Today it has been decided to supplement it with 18 more items," he said.
According to the Russian Prime Minister, most of the drugs are used to treat complex, life-threatening diseases. Their list includes, for example, certain types of oncology. A whole range of drugs is used for maintenance therapy in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, severe bronchial asthma and diabetes mellitus. Also included in the list was a drug against malignant growths in the bone marrow, emphasized Mishustin.
Additional dosage forms have been added for four drugs, the Russian government's press service said in a statement published in its Telegram channel.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the manufacture of already half of these drugs is carried out in Russia.
"Such work will be continued within the framework of the national project "New Health Saving Technologies" in order to increase the share of domestic production of vital and essential drugs to 90% by 2030 and not to depend on the whims of foreign companies," he said.
Earlier, on January 13, the Russian government approved the program of state guarantees of free medical care for 2025-2027. The program includes a section that defines the procedure for providing medical care to certain categories of combat veterans. In addition, the program added a provision that suggests that patients with severe and chronic diseases should be prescribed medicines that are not registered in the Russian Federation.
