WP has learned of the resignations of senior diplomats from the US State Department
US President-elect Donald Trump's team has demanded the resignation of dozens of senior State Department diplomats in order to demonstrate a "decisive break" with the outgoing administration of current US President Joe Biden. This was reported by The Washington Post(WP) on January 19, citing sources.
It is noted that US diplomats, including US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass and Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Jeffrey Pyatt, will leave their posts from noon on Monday after receiving instructions from Trump aides.
"It is fitting for the transition to look for officials who share President Trump's vision of putting our country and American working men and women first. We have many failures to fix, and that requires a dedicated team focused on the same goals," the publication quoted a transition team official as saying.
According to the newspaper, the official, who was asked to resign, said the incoming administration has handled the issue "professionally."
"They want to have people on the ground with whom they have worked before and who are well-known specialists," the official told the publication.
It is noted that one such candidate will be Lisa Kenna, who served as executive secretary of the State Department during Trump's first term as president.
Earlier, on January 16, Trump appointed Gibson, Stallone and Voight as special envoys to Hollywood. The American leader-elect also called them his new "eyes and ears."
Before that, on January 4, Trump said that Fox News journalist Tammy Bruce was nominated to head the press service of the American State Department. He emphasized that he is confident in the strength of conviction and fearlessness of Bruce.
The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the votes, and the candidate from the Democrats Kamala Harris - 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world.
