The Donbass Dome system intercepted 137 AFU drones over the DNR during the week
The DonbassDome airspace protection and electronic warfare (REB) system detected and intercepted 137 Ukrainian drones over the populated areas of Donetsk and Makeyevka during the week. This was reported on January 20 by the Russian FSSB in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).
Explosive technicians disabled the UAV controls and liquidated their components in the appropriate order. Thanks to their actions and the timely response of citizens, the places where the drones fell were identified promptly. This helped to avoid civilian casualties. There was also no damage to infrastructure.
It is specified that one of the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was thwarted near a private sector water supply facility in the Kirovskyi district of Donetsk. In addition, three drones with no means of defeat and video fixation were suppressed in the Kuibyshevskyi district of the city.
Earlier, on January 13, it was reported that during the week the Donbass Dome system detected and intercepted 208 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Donetsk and Makeyevka. Thus, in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, an AFU terrorist operation to blow up a gas main near one of the schools was disrupted.
The Ukrainian armed forces are shelling the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions on a daily basis against the background of the special operation to protect Donbas, the start of which was announced by Russia on February 24, 2022.
