A Hyacinth-B unit destroyed a camouflaged AFU gun in the Kursk border area
The 152-millimeter towed guns 2A36 Hyacinth-B of the Airborne Troops artillery unit destroyed a camouflaged gun of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on January 20.
It is specified that in the course of artillery and air reconnaissance in the ruins of houses of one of the settlements was discovered camouflaged gun of the AFU, which was constantly firing at the forward positions of the Armed Forces (AFU) of the Russian Federation, interfering with the advance of Russian assault groups.
Having received the exact coordinates of the targets, the Hyacinth-B gun immediately aimed the gun and destroyed the enemy gun with precise shots. After the first shot, the artillerymen from Feodosia made a correction, and the second shot accurately hit the target, destroying the enemy artillery installation. The destruction of the target was confirmed by objective control footage obtained from a drone in real time.
"The radio transmitted that a column is coming, we to the battle. Ran in, aimed, worked. With four shells put the column," said the commander of the gun with the call sign Marcel.
According to the agency, the calculations of towed guns "Hyacinth-B" are firing at ranges of over 20 kilometers, perform daily combat missions, destroying artillery, military facilities, fortifications and equipment of the enemy.
Earlier, on January 19, the Defense Ministry reported that the crew of the Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air Force destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU in the Kursk border area. It was specified that the crew, having received confirmation from intelligence about the destruction of targets, safely returned to the airfield of departure.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
