An army aviation crew on an Mi-28NM helicopter has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 20.

The pilots carried out missile launches at specified coordinates and destroyed enemy armored vehicles and manpower in the course of a combat mission to support ground troops.

After receiving confirmation from the aviation gunner of the successful defeat, the crew performed anti-missile maneuvering with the firing of heat traps to prevent the missiles of portable anti-aircraft missile system (MANPADS).

It is specified that the servicemen acted as part of a mixed tactical group.

Earlier, on January 19, the crew of the Su-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber destroyed armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU in the Kursk border area. The strike on the enemy's reconnaissance targets was carried out by aviation bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPK).

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
