Trump pledged to end the conflict in Ukraine and avoid World War III
US President-elect Donald Trump has promised to end the Ukrainian conflict and prevent a third world war. He said this on January 19 at a rally before his supporters at the Capital One sports arena in Washington.
"I will end the conflict in Ukraine. I will stop the chaos in the Middle East and prevent World War III," Trump said during the speech, which was broadcast on his official YouTube channel.
He also said his administration's focus in the next four years in office will be on protecting U.S. borders and U.S. interests, not those of other nations.
"After years of strengthening other countries, defending the borders and territories of other states, we will finally strengthen our country, defend our borders and protect our citizens," he emphasized.
Earlier, on January 18, Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton said in an interview with Japanese TV channel NHK that Trump wants to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible and does not care about the terms of settlement. According to him, this is bad news for Ukraine, and Russia, in turn, may be interested in such an aspiration of the future American leader.
On January 10, Trump once again stressed the need to "end" the Ukrainian conflict. He added that he was preparing to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin after his inauguration, scheduled for January 20.
Before that, on December 17, 2024, political scientist, economist and Columbia University professor Jeffrey Sachs said that the United States was provoking a nuclear war with Russia by escalating the situation around Ukraine. The analyst said that by escalation he meant the situation in the Middle East and the US decision to strike US missiles deep inside the Russian Federation.
On November 12, former Democratic congresswoman, now supporting Trump, Tulsi Gabbard (an excerpt of the interview is published on her YouTube channel) called the prevention of World War III Trump's goal. She noted that Trump understands the seriousness of the stakes and threats facing Americans because of the current administration's foreign policy decisions.
The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote and Harris received 47.4%. The voting results were met with prolonged applause at Trump's campaign headquarters. The politician himself later called himself the 47th president of the United States. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that his goal as head of state is to end military conflicts in the world.
