Common CMTPL insurance for Russia and Belarus to be launched in April 2025
Residents of Russia and Belarus will be able to buy a common CMTPL insurance policy for the two countries from April 2025, said the director of the Green Card Bureau of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RUIA), Sergei Razuvan.
In our country has already formed the legislative base, which is necessary to launch such a system, reported "Izvestia" in the press service of the Central Bank. The law authorizing such products came into force in 2025, but sales have not yet started, said Anna Ezhikova, project manager of the motor insurance underwriting department of Absolute Insurance. According to her, it takes time to finalize information systems.
When issuing MTPL insurance with the extension to Belarus for passenger cars, one will have to pay a little more than Br3 thousand on average, added Sergei Razuvan from RAMI.
Such a product makes sense to purchase both residents of Belarus, who often travel to Russia, and citizens of the Russian Federation, who often visit the neighboring country, explained Deputy Director General for retail insurance products "Yugoria" Ekaterina Suplotova. She added: in this case, there will be no need to think about issuing a Blue Card every time and keep track of its expiration date. It will be more profitable than buying a separate policy.
"The demand for a general CMTPL insurance policy in border regions will be the highest and may amount to 60-70% among regular Blue Card buyers. As you move away from the border, this percentage will decrease", - estimated Sergei Khudyakov from Mainsgroup.
