Production and export of meat products are growing in Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported. According to the ministry, 2.3 million tons of sausage products (+1.9%), 4.5 million tons of meat semi-finished products (+5%) and 833,000 tons of canned meat (+1.2%) were produced in January-November 2024.

"Self-sufficiency in meat and meat products in Russia today exceeds 100%. This not only guarantees domestic food security, but also allows us to increase exports. In particular, last year our country supplied abroad more than 700 thousand tons of meat and by-products, which is 27% more than in the same period a year earlier," the ministry said.

Among them, the export of pork (+33%), poultry products (+25%) and cattle meat (+22%) increased significantly.

According to the head of the National Meat Association Sergey Yushin, the success of exports is due to the growth of production volumes of meat and meat products, business investment in promoting their products abroad, as well as the active work of the state to open new markets.

"Various mechanisms of state support for exports, primarily partial compensation of logistics costs, also play an important role," the expert notes. The expansion of the range of products supplied, including live cattle, including breeding livestock, also has a positive impact. As a result, today Russia firmly occupies a place in the world's top ten largest exporters of meat," Yushin noted.
