Investigative Committee opens terrorism case over killing of Kursk villagers by AFU militants

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case over the killing of civilians in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in Kursk's Suzhansky district by Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighters. This was reported by the press service of the agency on January 19.

The criminal case was initiated under paragraph "b" of part 3 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act resulting in intentional infliction of death to a person").

"It is established that in January 2025, the militants of the WFU, being in the locality of Russkoe Porechnoye, Sujan district, Kursk region, committed the murder of at least seven civilians who took refuge in the basement of a residential house", - stated in the Telegram-channel.

It is noted that in the course of the investigation will be brought to justice all representatives of armed groups of Ukraine, who were involved in the crimes on the territory of Kursk region.

The day before, the Telegram-channel of the "North" group of troops published footage showing the bodies of civilians found in cellars in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in Kursk region.

On January 19, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that AFU fighters captured in Kursk Region said that they had been ordered to kill the peaceful Russian-speaking population.

On the same day, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, promised that the Ukrainian fighters guilty of atrocities against civilians in the village of Russkoe Porechnoye in Kursk Region would be punished.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
