The driver who clipped a Mercedes that fell into the Obvodny Channel has been detained

In St. Petersburg, police officers detained a 37-year-old driver who clipped a Mercedes, which then collapsed into the Obvodny Channel. This was reported by a source of "Izvestia" on January 19.

The source said that the driver of the Skoda did not give way to the German foreign car, after which he crashed into it. After that, the woman driving the Mercedes drove out on the sidewalk, knocked down the embankment fence and fell into the water.

A criminal case was initiated over the incident.

Earlier, on January 18, it was reported that a car with people collapsed into the Obvodny channel after the accident and drowned. According to preliminary data, another car crashed into the car at the intersection, after which the driver mixed up the pedals and pressed on the gas, as a result of which the Mercedes knocked down the grating of the embankment fence and fell into the water.

Later it became known that a 37-year-old local resident and her 14-year-old daughter died when the car fell into the Obvodny Channel.
