In China, a resident of Ningbo city, Zhejia province, won more than 6 million yuan (about $820,000) in a lottery, after which his employer demanded to give the winnings and divide them among the company's employees. This was reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) on January 19.

It is noted that the incident occurred back in 2019. At a corporate party, employees received more than 500 lottery tickets as an interactive. One of the tickets won the grand prize. However, after that, the management of the company said that the prize money should be divided among everyone.

The winner refused to comply and went to the police. As a result of the proceedings, the man was recognized as right in the dispute and found that the ticket after receiving it became his property.

According to the publication, the company deliberately purchased expired tickets and instructed its accountants to check them for winnability. However, those oversight was oversight.

Earlier, on April 30, 2024, it became known that in the United States, a patient with terminal cancer won in the lottery $1.3 billion. After paying taxes, the money won by the man will be divided in half with his girlfriend, who bought a lucky ticket for him.
