Access roads have been laid to the wrecked tanker Volgoneft-239 to prevent new releases of fuel oil from the tanker's stern. This was reported by the Russian Emergencies Ministry in its Telegram channel on January 19.

"In just 24 hours an access technical road to the stern of the emergency vessel was built. For this purpose, specialists paved and leveled more than half a kilometer of road," - stated in the message.

It is reported that work continues to strengthen the external piled contour to protect against possible unfavorable weather conditions.

From the stern of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" for a week collected and removed more than 2 thousand tons of fuel oil.

The agency specified that more than 7 thousand tons of contaminated sand and soil were removed in the Kerch Strait over the past week. Also in the Krasnodar region surveyed 220 km of the coast, during the week removed more than 7 thousand tons of waste. In Crimea more than 181 km of the coast was cleaned, and in Sevastopol about 40 tons of fuel oil was removed.

More than 4 thousand people and about 740 units of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the consequences.

Earlier, on January 17, deputy head of Krasnodar regional emergency rescue service "Kuban-SPAS" Oleg Chelyadinov said that the removal of sand contaminated with fuel oil from the main territory of beaches in Anapa was completed. It was reported that the number of vehicles on the main part of the coastline was being reduced as the work had been successfully completed.

The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died.
