Fighters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) captured in Kursk Region have said that they were ordered to kill the peaceful Russian-speaking population. Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, told Izvestia on January 19.

"Captured Ukrainian fighters testify that they were given orders from their commander to massacre Russian-speakers. This is an order from the Ukrainian command given not only to these killers, but to all militants who face civilians - to kill Russian speakers," he said.

The ambassador emphasized that the crimes committed by Ukrainian militants are proof that the Kiev regime, supported by the West, is waging a targeted war against Russian-speaking people.

The day before, the Telegram channel of the "North" group of troops published footage showing the bodies of civilians found in cellars in the village of Russkoye Porechnoye in Kursk Region. As Miroshnik pointed out, among the victims are old men and women. He said that, leaving the settlement, Ukrainian fighters threw grenades at them.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
