In St. Petersburg, a neighbor saved a pensioner from handing over 5 million rubles to fraudsters

A neighbor of a pensioner deceived by fraudsters prevented her from giving the criminals almost 5 million rubles, a source told Izvestia on January 19.

According to him, the criminals contacted the 81-year-old woman disguised as employees of a telecom operator and persuaded her to give them her personal data and give the money to the courier.

"Coming out of her apartment, <...> [the victim] met a neighbor who suspected fraud, took away <...> a bag with money, a cell phone (which constantly received calls from unknown people)," the source said.

The alleged criminal is detained.

Before that, on January 13, in the press service of the Department of Education and Science of Moscow reported that in the capital increased cases of fraud on behalf of allegedly employees of educational institutions, who request a code from the application "Gosuservices" to continue studying in the second half of the year.
