Burned man told of living skin analog transplantation
Pyotr, who received burns to his hands and shin as a result of a domestic incident, was able to use the innovative technology of transplanting an analog of living skin. He told Izvestia about how his rehabilitation is going.
"The area - about 11% of the body was burned. The hands healed without surgery, and the leg required surgery. When I got to the hospital, my friends who are related to the production of this drug found out about it and suggested that instead of a skin transplant they try it," he shared.
Peter noted that "the skin was born new" and he did not have to go through the transplant procedure. He became one of the first patients who was able to try out the innovative development on himself.
The latest technology was developed by scientists from Buryatia, and now it is being tested in clinics in Moscow, Kazan, St. Petersburg, the Moscow region and in the homeland of its developers. First of all, the product is intended for the treatment of burns, long non-healing wounds and trophic ulcers.
Earlier, on January 9, it became known that researchers from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) have developed an innovative way to treat complex and deep wounds in the Far North, where they heal longer and more painful due to the harsh climate. The scientists proposed mesenchymal stem cells as a basis for therapy.
