Russian Embassy in Moldavia delivers humanitarian aid to Transnistria residents
On January 17, the Russian Embassy in Moldova handed over humanitarian aid to the residents of Transnistria during a meeting with the activists of the Russians on the left bank of the Dniester. This was reported in the Russian diplomatic mission on January 18.
"During the meeting Oleg Ozerov (Russian Ambassador to Moldova. - Ed.) handed over to the organization of compatriots humanitarian aid for socially unprotected residents of Transnistria, collected by the staff of the Russian Embassy. Several dozens of families will receive heaters, electric stoves and warm blankets", - specified in the Telegram-channel of the diplomatic mission.
It is noted that the meeting was held at the contact center for interaction with Rossotrudnichestvo in Tiraspol. It also included a round table on the main directions of activity of the Union of Russian Communities of Transnistria and its plans for 2025.
In addition, Ambassador Ozerov thanked the representatives of the movement for their "energetic and multifaceted activity", including in the field of preserving historical memory and popularization of Russian literature.
Earlier, on January 18, it became known that since the beginning of the year due to the energy crisis in Transnistria three people died. A total of eight people were poisoned by combustion products during the operation of the furnace. Another 12 people were poisoned by carbon monoxide while using gas appliances.
On January 16, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was ready to assist Transnistria in dealing with the gas crisis. He noted that the supply would be made in the volume needed for the population and industrial enterprises. However, at the same time, Chisinau should ensure the conclusion of relevant contracts, as well as offer certain logistical solutions for the realization of supplies.
The fact that Russia will send humanitarian gas supplies to Transnistria amid the energy crisis was reported on January 15 by the president of the unrecognized DMR, Vadim Krasnoselsky.
Before that, on January 3, it was reported that 1.5 thousand multi-storey and 72 thousand private houses in Transnistria were left without heat and gas. Two large social facilities were switched to heating with diesel fuel. Solid fuel sales points were opened in each district.
Since December 9, 2024, an economic state of emergency has been in force in Transnistria. It was noted that a special procedure for the purchase of gas and other fuels will be established, organizations will be banned from exporting them, and a special procedure for the sale, purchase and distribution of products and necessities will be adopted.
