A woman was hospitalized in serious condition after a Mercedes car fell into the Obvodny Channel in St. Petersburg. This was reported on January 18 in the press service of the department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the city.

"Divers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of St. Petersburg and the search and rescue service of St. Petersburg found two women inside. One of them was extracted from the cabin and after resuscitation actions in the most serious condition was sent to the hospital," - stated in the message in the Telergam channel of the department.

They added that the second woman was killed, her body and the foreign car were taken to the shore by rescuers with the help of a crane and special means.

Earlier in the day it was reported that in St. Petersburg a car with people collapsed into the Obvodny channel after the accident and drowned. According to preliminary data, another car crashed into the car at the intersection, after which the driver mixed up the pedals and pressed on the gas, as a result of which the Mercedes knocked down the grating of the embankment fence and fell into the water.

The police started an investigation into the incident.
