Russian Armed Forces retaliate against ATACMS missile attacks by striking Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities

The Russian army has retaliated against ATACMS missile attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) by striking the facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex (MIC), including the Luch design bureau. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 18.

"This morning, in response to the firing of US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles at civilian infrastructure in the Belgorod region, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a group strike with high-precision weapons against the facilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, including the Luch design bureau, which designs and manufactures long-range guided missiles Neptun and rockets for the Olkha multiple launch rocket system," the statement said.

It is noted that all targets were achieved, the objects were hit.

Earlier in the day, the Russian military grouping of troops "North" destroyed an assault group of AFU militants on the outskirts of the locality of Glubokoye, Kharkiv region. The footage shows how one of the Russian military of the 11th Army Corps of the "North" group of troops, under cover, approached the basement of a house and threw there a backpack with anti-tank mines, destroying the AFU militants.

Prior to that, on January 17, the Defense Ministry reported on Ukraine's attempts on January 16 to attack Russian territory with U.S.-made ATACMS missiles. It was indicated that retaliatory strike measures from the Russian Federation would be taken. All missiles were shot down, there were no casualties or damage as a result of the attacks.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
