Lukashenko pardons 23 convicted for extremism
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko pardoned 23 people, who had committed crimes of extremist orientation. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader on January 18.
"All of them have written petitions for pardon, admitted their guilt and repented. They are three women and 20 men," stated in the message.
The press service of the President of Belarus also added that 14 of the pardoned have chronic diseases, while 12 have children. It is also noted that the Interior Ministry of Belarus will provide control over their law-abiding behavior.
December 28, 2024, Lukashenko pardoned 20 people, who were convicted of extremist crimes. It was reported that all the convicts filed petitions for pardon and expressed remorse for their actions.
Before that, December 9, President of Belarus signed a decree on pardoning 29 people. Among them were six people under 25 years old, three pensioners, two disabled, while 15 people have chronic diseases.
