Blinken named a condition for the end of the conflict in Ukraine
The administration of US President-elect Donald Trump can negotiate peace in Ukraine if Kiev wishes. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at a briefing at the State Department on January 17, broadcast on YouTube.
"I believe that the new administration is in a position where, if the Ukrainians so wish and make such a choice, it can help them make a favorable deal," Gazeta.Ru quoted him as saying.
He added that the desire of the Ukrainian side to stop conflict actions was one of the main conditions for concluding an agreement with Russia.
Earlier, on January 17, political analyst Dmitriy Solonnikov said that the West and Ukraine were not considering options for settling the conflict that could suit Russia. Western leaders initially led Kiev to believe that final peace talks would mean Russia's capitulation.
On the same day, Reuters, citing sources, reported that the majority of Ukrainian citizens do not believe that Trump will be able to resolve the conflict. It was specified that the citizens of Ukraine are more committed to the fact that the conclusion of peace depends on themselves.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russia on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
