Kasatkina defeats Putintseva to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open
Russian tennis player Darya Kasatkina defeated Kazakhstan's Yulia Putintseva at the Australian Open with a score of 7:5, 6:1 and reached the fourth round. The meeting was held on January 18 in Melbourne.
The duration of the game between Kasatkina, the 10th-ranked player in the WTA rankings, and Putintseva, ranked 23rd, was 1 hour and 21 minutes.
The Russian served once, made seven double faults and realized six out of six break points, while her opponent had zero service games, one double fault and two out of three break points, Sport-Express added.
Kasatkina's next opponent will be the eighth-ranked American Emma Navarro.
Earlier, on January 16, last year's Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev lost in the second round of the tournament to the 121st-ranked player from the United States, Lener Thien. The Russian was seeded fifth at the tournament, while the American qualified for the main draw by winning the qualification round.
