Marochko pointed to the AFU strikes on civilians near Kremenna out of desperation

Militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are purposefully shelling civilians in the nearest settlements due to desperation on the front line in the battles near Kreminna in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). This was told on January 18 by military expert and retired LNR Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko.

"Now the entire western part and southwest of Kremenna are rumbling. This just explains the fact that the enemy from its plight is simply trying to take revenge on the civilian population by deliberately opening fire on civilians," he told TASS.

According to Marochko, intense fighting is taking place in the vicinity of Kremenna in the areas of the settlements of Terny, Kolodezi, Yampolovka, Torsk, Serebryanyi Les and Belogorovka.

The Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation destroy enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting civilians in Kremenna and the vicinity, the military expert noted.

Earlier, on January 5, Marochko said that the infrastructure of the Nadiya settlement in the LNR was almost completely destroyed by Ukrainian militants. He emphasized that the liberation of Nadiya was natural and expected. According to him, now Russian units are engaged in fierce fighting in the vicinity of the settlement.

Before that, on December 27, 2024, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Stakhanov LNR told "Izvestia" about the peculiarities of work in areas close to the contact line. So, the rescuers have no more than a minute to gather, because any delay can cost a human life.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
