More than 7 thousand EMERCOM rescuers will ensure safety during the Epiphany bathing in Russia from January 18 to 19. This was announced by the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Alexander Kurenkov on January 18.

"More than seven thousand rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry will ensure the safety of baptismal bathing. They will be on duty at organized places, such planned about three thousand, and patrol water bodies to identify spontaneous bathing," - his words are quoted by the press service of the department in Telegram.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, rescuers will also measure the thickness of ice on the places equipped for baptismal bathing and check fire safety in churches and temples, where services will be held.

The day before, January 17, it was reported that in Moscow on Epiphany, on the night of January 19, will extend the work of 35 routes of ground transport. Thus, buses and electric buses, which routes run near the places of traditional bathing, will run until 03:00.

In the capital 42 sites in different administrative districts were prepared for baptismal bathing. During the baptismal bathing in these points will be on duty lifeguards. Also this year additional patrolling by hovercrafts will be introduced.
