Le Monde has learned of an investigation against Nestle in France
In France at the end of December last year began a judicial investigation against the company Nestle because of fraud in the labeling of mineral water. This was reported by the newspaper Le Monde on January 18.
As noted in the material of the publication, Nestle used different methods of filtration when bottling drinking water labeled as "natural mineral". According to the newspaper, the company refused to comment on this information, but there "expect to cooperate constructively with the judiciary.
In addition, the newspaper drew attention to the fact that the investigation indirectly allows the company to evade the requests of the upper house of parliament, where a committee has been formed to investigate possible offenses. At the same time, the head of the committee plans to personally visit the plant where Perrier water is bottled on February 7.
Nestle sent letters to senators, in which it referred to the impossibility of fulfilling their requests due to the ongoing criminal investigation, because the parliamentary committee can not investigate one case in parallel with the judiciary. The Senate responded that it does not interfere with the judiciary but intends to continue its inquiry.
Earlier on August 23, 2024, the Financial Times reported that Nestle CEO Mark Schneider will resign due to the lack of profit and falling sales that the company has faced recently. The publication noted that the drop in profits has led to a 14% drop in the company's share price.
