Military men of the Southern Group of Forces were presented with state and departmental awards

An award ceremony was held in one of the rear areas of the special military operation in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), during which servicemen of the motorized rifle regiment of the Southern Group of Forces were presented with state and departmental awards. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 18.

The Russian fighters were awarded state medals "For Bravery" of the II degree and departmental medals "For Military Valor" of the II and I degrees by a representative of the command of the general army.

"Was awarded the medal "For Military Valor" II degree for conscientious service. My task is the integrity of radio communication, also the integrity of wire communication, serviceability of it. <...> I had to, let's say, lay communication. Communication can be radio, laid field, field type of communication was. I laid, as everyone knows, that there are drones flying overhead all the time, and there are also arrivals. In such conditions you have to do your work almost constantly," said a serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with the call sign Salavat.

Earlier, on December 28, 2024, Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation, Army General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov presented awards to the participants of the SSO, who are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the Main Military Clinical Hospital named after N . N. Burdenko in Moscow. N.N. Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital in Moscow. The fighters were awarded two medals "For Bravery" and two more "For Bravery" of the II degree. Also the distinguished participants of the special operation were awarded medals of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "For Combat Distinctions" and "For Military Valor" II degree.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
