The expert named the disadvantages of non-original glass for cars
Non-original car windows are made of lower-quality materials that deteriorate their properties, Vadim Strelbitsky, director of mechanical repair department of Avilon Kia, told on January 17.
"If we talk about non-original cheap auto glass, they have low quality. This makes them vulnerable to impacts from stones or gravel. For example, hitting even a small stone in the windshield leads to the formation of a large crack, requiring replacement of the entire glass," he told Gazeta.Ru.
Cheap glass often has uneven thickness and defects, which impairs visibility, especially in the dark and in bad weather, the expert added.
The third disadvantage of such models, he called faster aging under the influence of ultraviolet light, which can manifest itself in clouding, yellowing or scratches after a few months of operation.
Because of this, trying to save money on auto glass can incur additional costs and lead to safety risks, the expert summarized.
