Rocket modeling blogger to be tried for illegally manufacturing 2 kg of explosives

A rocket-modeling blogger from Rostov Velikiy, Yaroslavl region, will stand trial for the illegal manufacture of 2 kg of explosives. This is reported on January 17 in the official Telegram-channel of the Russian Interior Ministry.

"The citizen, without having the appropriate authorization, independently manufactured and stored in his apartment explosives with a total mass of more than 2 kg. According to the conclusions of a specialist of the ECC of the regional UMVD of Russia, this explosive <...> belongs to the class of pyrotechnic compositions", - stated in the message of the department.

A criminal case under part 1 of article 223.1 ("Illegal manufacture of explosives, illegal manufacture, alteration or repair of explosive devices"), and part 1 of article 222.1 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage of explosives") was initiated against the man. The defendant said that he is fond of amateur rocket building and shoots videos where he launches rockets of his own production. He needed such substances for homemade shells.

It is specified that the investigation is completed, the Prosecutor's office approved the indictment, and the materials were sent to the court for consideration on the merits. The man was sent under the signature on non-departure and proper behavior.

Earlier, January 10, it was reported that the Federal Security Service and the Interior Ministry of Russia, together with the Rosgvardiya, suppressed the activities of 109 illegal gunsmiths in 40 regions of Russia. Law enforcers conducted raids, seizing 355 firearms manufactured in different countries, anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and explosives. Thirty-eight clandestine workshops where weapons were made and modernized were shut down.
