Fraudsters on behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin persuaded a 92-year-old retired intelligence colonel to throw money out the window. This was reported by a source of Izvestia on January 17.

According to him, an unknown person called the pensioner and, introducing himself as the mayor of the capital, asked about the money he had.

Having learned about the man's savings in U.S. dollars, the intruder said that he needed to check the legality of the purchased money and for this purpose it should be handed over to a trusted person. Having listened to the intruder, the pensioner threw the money out the window.

It is specified that the missing savings of the man amounted to more than 1 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated.

Earlier, on January 13, in Moscow, an elderly couple gave more than 2.4 million rubles to fraudsters, trying to help "catch criminals".
