The preliminary investigation into the case of Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin about a bribe of 36 million rubles has been completed. This was reported to "Izvestia" by lawyer Mikhail Pertsev on January 17.

According to him, the defense side is getting acquainted with the materials.

January 17, 235th garrison military court extended Shamarin's arrest for three months: he will stay in the pre-trial detention center until April 2025.

The former head of the main communications directorate of the Russian Armed Forces was detained on May 22, 2024. According to investigators, Shamarin received a bribe from the general director and chief accountant of Perm Telephone Plant Telta OJSC. The general was suspended from the post of deputy chief of the General Staff and head of the main communications department of the Russian Armed Forces.

In early August, he partially pleaded guilty, although the defense insisted that the amount received was not a bribe.

On November 13, it was announced at a court hearing that Shamarin had pleaded guilty and entered into a pre-trial agreement. Nevertheless, despite the position of the defense, the measure of restraint for the general was not mitigated and left him under arrest.
