The Russian army liberated the village of Slavyanka in the DNR

The Russian Armed Forces have liberated the village of Slavyanka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 17.

"Units of the Center group of troops continued advancing deep into the enemy's defense and liberated the settlements of Shevchenko, Peschanoye, Ukrainka and Slavyanka in the Donetsk People's Republic," the ministry said in a statement.

Over the week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in this direction lost more than 3.7 thousand servicemen. Destroyed 27 vehicles and 45 field artillery guns, including three Western-made ones.

The fact that the Russian Armed Forces liberated Ukrainka in the DNR became known on January 15. A day before that, Russian troops liberated the villages of Neskuchne and Terny in the DNR. In Neskuchne, servicemen of the Vostok group of troops who took part in the liberation of the village hoisted a flag.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
