Interior Ministry warned of a new scheme to steal accounts on "State Services"
A new fraud scheme aimed at gaining access to the account on the portal of state services under the pretext of updating the electronic journal of schoolchildren has been detected in Russia. This was reported on January 17 in the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
"Attackers under the guise of heads of educational organization or teachers call parents under the pretext of updating the electronic journal, lists of students or student profile in "Sphere", - said in the Telegram-channel of the department.
To "update the electronic journal" fraudsters ask for a code from an SMS message, which is subsequently used to access the account on "Gosusluga". In addition, con artists can warn the parent about the upcoming call from school, and then learn the confirmation code from the child.
The Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies specified that for plausibility fraudsters use the data of real school employees. In addition, they use dipfeiks and substitute numbers.
In turn, "Spherum" said that the updates of the communication platform is automatic and exclusively on the user's device, without the participation of third parties
"For this purpose, codes from SMS are not used, including codes from "Gosuslugi". Information about service updates can come exclusively from the platform in the form of a system message and is only informational in nature. It is also important to know that communications on studies are also conducted exclusively in "Sphere", where all users are verified", - stated in the message.
Before that, on January 13, in the press service of the Department of Education and Science of Moscow reported that in the capital increased cases of fraud on behalf of allegedly employees of educational institutions, which request a code from the application "Gosusgoservices" to continue studying in the second half of the year.
