State Duma deputies sent an appeal to the Investigative Committee to check Chubais' activities

The head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, and MP Andrei Lugovoi have asked the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, to initiate a criminal probe into the activities of politician Anatoly Chubais. This was reported by Kartapolov in his Telegram-channel on January 17.

Thus, the deputies asked to conduct a check for the period from December 4, 2020 to March 22, 2022, when he held the position of special representative of the Russian president for relations with international organizations to achieve sustainable development goals, as well as from September 22, 2008 to December 3, 2020, when Chubais was chairman of the board of the company Rusnano.

They also asked the Prosecutor General's Office to provide data on criminal cases against Chubais that are or have been pending.

Earlier, on October 23 last year, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said that the reform of the Russian electric power industry, which took place under the leadership of former head of the Rusnano corporation Anatoly Chubais, led only to the enrichment of the economist, so he should be extradited to Russia.

In March 2022, businessman Chubais left the post of special representative of the Russian president for relations with international organizations to achieve sustainable development goals and left the Russian Federation.

It was reported that what happened was due to the businessman's disagreement with the country's policy on the defense of Donbass. At the same time, Chubais's entourage confirmed that he had left his post and the country, but did not give any reasons why this happened.
