A case of high treason has been opened against a Sevastopol resident who forwarded data on air defense and units of the Black Sea Fleet to Ukrainian military intelligence. This was reported in the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia on January 17.
"A resident of the city of Sevastopol proactively joined the chat-contact foreign messenger Telegram, coordinated by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to conduct intelligence and sabotage-terrorist activities in Russia", - stated in the message.
The agency specified that after that the man collected information about the location of air surveillance posts, air defense, units of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol and passed the data to Ukrainian handlers. The information was intended for the enemy to strike Russian military facilities.
A criminal case was opened against the detainee under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High Treason"). He was also taken into custody.
Operative-search and investigative actions continue.
Earlier, on December 29, 2024, the FSB detained a citizen of the Russian Federation for treason. He is suspected of handing over to Ukraine a photo of the fuel and energy complex (FEC) facilities of the Moscow region. According to the FSB, the detainee established contact via Telegram with a representative of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's GUR and on the instructions of the curator collected and transferred photos of the fuel and energy complex facilities in Moscow Region for a monetary reward.
