Sniper pairs of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Forces' Ivanovo Guards unit destroyed three Baba Yaga-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) overnight and disrupted the enemy's rotation near a refractory plant in the Chasov Yar settlement of the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 17.

According to the ministry, snipers of Ivanovo paratroopers went to the position with a distance of about 50 meters to the enemy. They long tracked the schedules of hexacopter arrivals, as well as the movement of the enemy, calculated the schedule of the AFU rotation and the arrival of riggers with ammunition and food.

Afterwards, Russian servicemen ambushed and destroyed the enemy drones. When shooting, snipers take into account the wind direction and distance to the target, the Defense Ministry noted. At the same time, the second sniper gives target designation, and the first sniper opens fire to kill.

In addition, the sniper pair promptly changed the firing position and destroyed the AFU infantry rotating in the forward positions. Thanks to the work of the AFU, the AFU riggers and the rotation shift were unable to carry out activities to replace and deliver ammunition with food.

"Now the unit performs tasks in the locality of Chasov Yar. Destruction of the enemy, sniper pairs, machine gun points, as well as a separate tactical task to destroy UAV "Baba Yaga", as well as reconnaissance UAVs such as Mavic", - said the commander of the rifle company of snipers with the call sign Erihon.

Earlier, on January 13, fighters of the Volga Cossack artillery regiment described their work to drive the AFU fighters out of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). Russian scouts identify the target, calculate the coordinates and time for the strike in the command center, and then the artillerymen deploy the D-20 cannon and support the attackers with fire.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
