FPV drone crews destroyed AFU manpower and equipment in the Kursk border area
The FPV drone crews of the motorized rifle regiment of the army corps of the "North" group of troops have destroyed accumulations of manpower and armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 17.
Russian operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) destroyed an infantry fighting vehicle and an armored personnel carrier, as well as tanks and manpower of Ukrainian militants. After the attack, the servicemen changed the launch point to prevent the enemy from tracking their position.
The Defense Ministry added that FPV drone operators destroy various military equipment, including those produced by NATO countries. They can operate from any position and on any terrain.
Initially, the drone receives a combat assignment and with ready-made armament leaves for the launch point, after which the operators promptly defeat the enemy. FPV-drone develops speed up to a hundred kilometers per hour, it is impossible to escape from it.
It is specified that thanks to hundreds of hours of combat experience, the calculators manage to destroy enemy equipment despite interference from electronic warfare systems and attempts of Ukrainian militants to defend themselves against UAVs.
On the eve of January 16, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that an army aviation crew on a Mi-28NM helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk Region. It is specified that as part of the combat mission to support ground troops, the pilots of the Army Aviation carried out missile launches at specified coordinates, destroying enemy armored vehicles with AFU personnel.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
